Bodegas Ondarre was founded in 1985 to showcase the regions distinct wines and terroirs. Rioja is usually a blend, and this is no different, a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo. Each variety is fermented separately to get the best out of it before being blended in both American and French Oak barrels for 16 months imparting some subtle oak complexity. A medium bodied, classic Rioja with intense leather, vanilla, ripe strawberries and red cherry. A truly stunning Rioja! Food Pairing – a wine of this complexity would benefit from more simply prepared food such as roasted game, lamb and rosemary and Shepherds pie.
